At Sir James Douglas School, 401 Moss St. in Fairfield.
Hi,

Thursday, Feb. 21 at 8:00pm we will be conducting our annual general meeting.  The meeting location is at Sir James Douglas School at 401 Moss St.  (Moss and Fairfield).  There is a parking lot at the back off of Thurlow (turn east off of Moss).  The meeting is in the school portable.

At this meeting we will review this past year's major events/news, the new executive will be elected and dues will be collected.

A major topic that will be discussed is the actual running of the society.  Our monthly meetings are primarily attended by the same people and decisions that are made at the meetings may not reflect the true desires of the majority of club members.  Additionally, those living outside of Victoria are unable to attend the meetings and make their voices heard.  So we may propose to move to a directorship type model and have less frequent meetings, or perhaps it's just a case of changing the format of the meetings.

The annual dues are $60 for a full membership and $30 for students.  This money is used to enhance and maintain our flying sites, pay for meeting room costs and numerous other miscellaneous items.  If you pay your dues at the upcoming meeting (cheque or cash), you have a chance of getting your money back in a random draw.  If you are unable to make the meeting and wish to mail your dues in, please let me know and I will provide you with the new treasurer's address.

Please make your best effort to come to this meeting if you are in Victoria and plan on hang gliding or paragliding this year on Vancouver Island.

If you have received this email and no longer wish to be a member of the Island Soaring Society, please email me back and let me know and you will not be hassled again.

Cheers,
Dave
