The IslandSoaring has around 50 active members.
The Club meets at 8:00pm the first Thursday of every second month (so watch this site to find out when the next one will take place). We meet at Sir James Douglas School, 401 Moss St. in Victoria (at the corner of Fairfield). It is in a portable and it is easiest to park in the parking lot behind the school, off of Thurlow Rd. Land Use Code of Conduct
We have constant access issues to all Vancouver Island sites. It is very important that we remember that use of any flying site is a privilege, not a right.
To avoid problems at Vancouver Island sites we encourage all pilots to respect the landowners and follow this code of conduct:
1. Contact local pilots before flying a new area.
2. Ensure that permission from the landowner has been obtained for take off and landing before using the site.
3. Use only recognized gates, paths and trails. Do not climb over walls or fences.
4. Always close fences.
5. Keep all pets on a leash and under control at all times. Do not take pets into a field with livestock.
6. Pick up any litter on launch and the landing area.
7. Do not land in a standing crop.
8. Park you car with consideration to other road users and landowners. Do not drive into landing fields.
9. Be courteous to any spectators and answer their questions politely.
